External displays not working [i915|Skylake|4.7.5-1-ARCH|Lenovo X1 Carbon 2016]
From: Nico Schottelius

Hello,
trying to get an image on the DP or HDMI output fails on the new Lenovo
X1 Carbon Gen4, because no resolutions are detected and all outputs are
shows as disconnected.
Using xrandr to manually add a mode
xrandr --newmode "1920x1080_60.00" 109.00 1280 1368 1496 1712 1024 1027 1034 1063 -hsync +vsync
xrandr --addmode HDMI1 1920x1080_60.00
enables the HDMI output, though still being shown as disconnected. There
are various hints in dmesg [attached], too.
I am using kernel 4.7.5 with xf86-video-intel 1:2.99.917+708+g8f33f80-1.
Has anyone else seen this problem before and has a workaround better
than mine above?
The WM (i3) actually allows me to put a window on the
"disconnected" output, however fullscreen support of evince / pdfpc
completely breaks.
Cheers,
Nico
