IYO. checkpatch doesn't care and I think it's unnecessary.
Just fyi:
checkpatch does suggest parenthesis removal with --strict
when using
== or !=
with
&& or ||
e.g.:
$ cat -n foo.c

7 if (foo == 1 && bar != 2)
