I think that assumption must be the problem.
That would explain why the crashes are happening in nfsd_exit_net as
opposed to somewhere else, and why we're only seeing them since
3ba75830ce17 "nfsd4: drc containerization".
I wonder what *is* safe to assume when the net exit method is called?
