And it won't work on hardware doesn't support this feature, e.g. 10G based
Hardware as you mentioned.

And to be clear, it's better to mention that, on N3000, there are 2 retimer chips,
each chip supports 4 links, which matches the code below, It configures all links
of the retimers to the same FEC mode.

It needs to be defined clearly, configurable seems a little confusing.
It seems that hardware supports FEC mode but software can't change it.
Is that true? If it's in some hardware version doesn't support FEC, then
