Did I understand correctly that the code should be:

                evm_status = INTEGRITY_NOXATTRS;
                if (rc != -ENODATA) {
                        evm_status = INTEGRITY_FAIL;
                        if (evm_immutable)
                                evm_status = INTEGRITY_FAIL_IMMUTABLE;
                }
