For below...

struct typec_partner_desc desc = { };

I forgot about this. You also need to set the mode with
typec_set_mode() since you support audio accessories.

typec_set_mode(sc->port, TYPEC_STATE_USB);

switch (sc->state) {
case SC27XX_ATTACHED_SNK:
case SC27XX_DEBUG_CABLE:
...
case SC27XX_AUDIO_CABLE:
typec_set_mode(sc->port, TYPEC_MODE_AUDIO);
desc.accessory = TYPEC_ACCESSORY_AUDIO;
/* fall through */
case SC27XX_ATTACHED_SRC:
...
}

I'm sorry, but I still don't understand? Which spec are you referring
to?

Even if SC27XX_DEBUG_CABLE case does not mean debug accessory,
SC27XX_AUDIO_CABLE has to means audio accessory - I don't really see
anything else it could be.

Please be more specific. Which drivers need to know about the role,
and which drivers need to know if the partner is audio accessory?

That statement quite simply is not true. I have a feeling that the
purpose of these device classes is not completely clear to you guys.
There is some explanation here:
https://docs.kernel.org/driver-api/usb/typec.html
https://docs.kernel.org/driver-api/usb/typec.html#c.typec_set_mode

In any case, this is what you need:

The data role you handle with a USB role switch, and that most likely
already exists on your platform - most USB dual-role controller
drivers register USB role switches. So now you just need to control
that switch from this driver, and note that that is something that you
have to do even if you still used extcon (the reason is explained
above).

The driver that needs to react to the mode changes (audio accessory)
needs to register USB Type-C mux that will be configured when ever
typec_set_mode() is called.

So, I still don't see any use for the extcon device here.
