Hi,
Currently, it seems that only LoongArch does not support libdw.
However, libdw has many advantages,
and I hope that LoongArch will consider supporting it. In my opinion,
libdw has at least the following advantages:
Comprehensive DWARF support: The libdw library provides comprehensive
support for the DWARF debugging format.
DWARF is the most commonly used debugging information format on the
Linux platform, featuring a rich set of capabilities
that can describe the complex relationship between source code and
compiled executable files. libdw can parse all DWARF features,
including type information, line numbers, local and global variables,
macro definitions, etc., enabling perf to provide detailed
source-code-level performance data.
Performance and memory usage: The libdw library was designed with
performance and memory usage in mind.
It uses efficient algorithms and data structures to parse and store
DWARF information, thus reducing performance overhead and memory
usage.
This is particularly important for performance analysis tools like
perf, which need to parse large amounts of debugging information at
runtime and minimize the impact on the target program being analyzed.
Concise API: The libdw library provides a concise, easy-to-use API
that allows developers to easily integrate
it into applications like perf. The API follows C programming
conventions and can seamlessly cooperate with other
