This problem (and others) has been noted (with patches posted) in the
linux-ppp email list. Try tuning in there, and use the listserver to
get the posts from the last week or so.

If you are really desperate, email me and I'll send some of the listmail
to you (please don't unless you are *really* stuck... I'm busy here
trying to convert my system to elf :)
