1.3.34 Memory problem

I recently upgraded my memory from 16 meg to 32 meg. I have an AT1500
(LANCE) ethernet card. My system runs a stock Slackware 3.0
distribution with a 1.3.34 kernel.

With 16 meg the system runs fine -- no problems (just lots of swapping).
With 32 meg, ifconfig generates a kernel oops. I would include the text
here, but I don't have tmy machine up and running at the moment.

I think the problem is with the special code for the le.c driver that
allocates buffers under the 16M limit of the dma chips on the ethernet
card.

I have a number of older kernels, and I will see if I can figure out which
kernel this broke in (I had 32M before briefly -- just to see if it would
speed my system up -- and everything worked fine then). I am curious if
anyone else has seen this behavior?
