Based on this response:
It appears that I am not the only person who tries to keep their Linux
up-to-date, but does not have the HOWTOs in the document search path.
I am looking over the ELF-HOWTO to see what changes need to be made to
update it to the current software versions. Preliminary indications
are that it will need very little updating.
I believe that the "move_to_elf" document which appears in sunsite's
/pub/Linux/GCC directory should be either removed or altered to
indicate the presence of the ELF-HOWTO (I saw this file and assumed
it was the latest version of conversion instructions).
I will send my notes (with some changes from the HOWTO) to the people
who requested it via private e-mail (unless I hear from someone
at Rutgers encouraging it to be posted to the list) sometime
tomorrow. I want to make the changes, then run through the process
again to make sure I didn't miss anything. The notes are currently
only about a page long, since it is pure step-by-step what I did.
For people who saw my original posting and are waiting for my notes to grace
your screen, I _would_ recommend picking up a copy of the ELF-HOWTO. It is
a very complete and informative document; it also includes a lot of information
regarding why the Linux people are moving to ELF and what else needs to be
changed to keep your system running.
