After the upgrade there was no /lib/cpp ... it lives in /usr/bin/cpp
as a link to /usr/lib/gcc-lib/i486-linux/2.7.2/cpp.
As X starts, xrdb looks for cpp in /lib. So all I did was copy
cpp to /lib and it now picks up the ~/.Xresources.
Hate it when you figure out what went wrong seconds after you
post to a group ;)
