For what it's worth, I don't get this behaviour.

Running kerneld, aren't we? I've asked the same question myself, and
from the answers I got it seems that

net-pf-3 : AX.25
net-pf-4 : IPX
net-pf-5 : AppleTalk

This really should be documented somewhere -- or have better names. Wh=

are they called that, anyway?

Simon> b. Why are the missing?

Probably because you haven't make'd them? You can always edit an
/etc/conf.modules to contain:

alias net-pf-3 off # AX.25
alias net-pf-4 ipx # IPX
alias net-pf-5 off # A-talk

assuming you have compiled the IPX driver. Otherwise, just =ABoff=BB t=
hat
one as well.

Simon> c. What does it affect?

Nothing, unless you want to use those protocols. For some reason, an
=ABifconfig=BB by itself tries to insert all those modules. The reason=
is
probably good, though it escapes me.

I don't see those either. It's your problem.

Simon> a. Is kerneld still supported?

Works for me. However, apparently, the 3c509-driver warns me that it's
not a good idea to kerneld-module it, unless I'm EISA. Is this for
real? It seems to work flawlessly, but warnings like that always worrie=
s
me slightly.
