Whenever I run ifconfig, I get the following error messages:
Apr 25 12:13:33 utnapishtim modprobe: Can't locate module net-pf-4
Apr 25 12:13:35 utnapishtim modprobe: Can't locate module net-pf-3
Apr 25 12:13:37 utnapishtim modprobe: Can't locate module net-pf-5
The program works, so I guess no harm, no foul. But what is going on?
I got the net-tools-1.3.6-BETA5 package, and have modules-1.3.57, as per
Documentation/Changes.txt. I have found that if I link other worthless
modules to net-pf-* (like extfs or xaifs), modprobe loads them and then
unloads them a minute later. I run kerneld so this is normal. I would
just like to know that these modules are, and why ifconfig tells modprobe
to load them.
BTW, I load my network card as a module (NE2000), if that makes a difference.
Thanks in advance...
