I cannot duplicate this problem. I tried two different flavors:
/usr/src/linux --> symbolic link to NFS mounted directory [My normal
configuration for all but one machine]
/usr/src --> NFS mounted directory
What version of NFS are you running? I'm using nfs-server2.2beta14,
with rsize=8192,wsize=8192 as suggested by Linus.
