ISOFS problems in 1.3.88

The isofs changes in 1.3.88 seem to have broken things.

When I look at the Caldera CND CDROM, symlinks seem broken:

lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 8 Jan 5 10:36 /cdrom/RedHat ->
(note readlink seems to be returning an empty string, which followlink
takes to be '.')

and I get the following messages:
Apr 15 13:29:26 ixodes linux: kmalloc of too large a block (268697952 bytes).
Apr 15 13:29:48 ixodes last message repeated 8 times
Apr 15 13:34:33 ixodes linux: kmalloc of too large a block (268697952 bytes).
