making BSD file systems

I need a user level tool for making BSD file systems on a Linux box. The
standard BSD-ish name for this tool is "mkfs". My version of Linux does
not have this utility.

Can someone tell me where I can FTP the source code? I do not subscribe to
this list, so just send me email. Thanks!
