Pre 2.0.3 defeats syslogd 1.3

I've seen only a handful of messages since the 6th of May, hopefully
the list will recover soon.

Pre-2.0.1 works reasonably well. Upgrading to pre-2.0.3 was pretty
bad. I tried booting it twice without success. Starting syslogd
caused a kernel oops. I'll try repeating tonight when I have time to
handwrite :-( the messages.
