userfs might be a good idea for /dev, but ifs doesn't work (and hasn't
worked for ages). Well, Linus thinks this IFS thing should be in libc
anyway (hmmm... maybe, Somebody's Gotta Implement That). Personally, a

In fact, the -n should be hardcoded anyway. Or rather, mount+umount cou=
ld
lstat() /etc/mtab, and skip their locking games if it's a symlink.
