This problem has been around for a little while now. IU know next to nothing
about winsock, but I do believe the bug is with the winsock dll and not
the linux kernel. Upgrading to the latest winsock (version ???? -- I'm
no longer employed by that ISP so I haven't had to keep track) fixed the
problem.
