Sorry... It wasnt syslogd that was fault. It was another program who
wanted to open a pid file and couldnt. It was the "syslog:" that confused
me.
*sigh*
I'll write 100 times on the blackboard "I shall never again post to
kernel-list without checking everything first".
Though I must say that it baffels me why
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 68 Jun 8 14:37 ftpd.pids
can't be read by the util when running as me, but can as root.
Oh well.. I'll just suid the util and get on with my life.
