Just upgraded from kernel 1.3.100 to 2.0.8. Compiled kernel with same
options as 1.3.100. Received no compilation errors for 2.0.8. For some
strange reason I am unable to ping the aliased IP address from linux box,
but am able to ping aliased IP address from remote systems when using 2.0.8.
It has been a few months since I compiled the 1.3.100 version, I don't
remember adding any patches to kernel source before compiling 1.3.100. Have
I forgotten something obvious???. Is there anything unique about 2.0.x that
I am unaware of????. I have double checked and triple checked my
configuration files between 1.3.100 -> 2.0.8. I also tried this using
kernels 2.0.0 - 2.0.7 with the same results.
I have tried all kinds of ifconfig options. The following 'ifconfig' is in
my rc.inet1 script which works fine under 1.3.100.
Thanks,
Steve Cowles
