I have this problem on a IDE system with 16450's. I use 'hdparm -u1
/dev/hdx' to fix it. This will decrease the interrupt latency caused
by the IDE code. In an old DOS system we used to get around this problem
by dropping RTS before calling the BIOS disk functions - now that was an
ugly hack.
