VFS: Mounted root (ext2 filesystem).
and then just stops, an do nothing, the kernel was 2.0.10. I have
netbooted it using floppy, mounted the root partition, fsck'ed, put 2.0.27
kernel there, ran lilo, removed the '/sbin/init', and it still hangs
exactly in the same place. Moreover, according to the kernel hacking guide
the the first program which kernel tries to exec it is the
{/etc/init/,/bin/init,/sbin/init} and then it would try fall-back to
shell, but in this case it clearly does not try exec init. But kernel must
be ok, since I have put on the disk completely new kernel, the hdd
probably is ok as well since I fsck'ed it. And the comp itself is probably
ok as well since it boots fine of floppy/net combination.
I'm toally suck, any ideas?????
btw: could someone remind me how I could get into single-user mode
without using root disk? I think it was some command line option for lilo.
It popped up on the kernel-mailing list before.
