That's why I can get away with it! I have the Adaptec at home and NCR at work. When I bring my disk from home into work, I haven't experienced any problems reading the disk. Good to know.

NCR (now Symbios Logic) controllers and Adaptec controllers format disks
in different ways. However, NCR controllers are able to work with
Adaptec-formatted disks, but Adaptecs are not able to work with NCR-
formatted. You may reformat, but you lose your data.
