hello,

i did just try the 2.1.40 and 41 kernels and both have a strange problem:
when launching netscape the load of my machine goes up and up and up until
an Urgh is atteined, and the machine stops....

now i noticed at boot time and error, but the message goes past too fast
that i really could read it, and it isn't loggd by syslog (dmesg or
messages, BTW how could i get ALL the messages that appear on boot to be
copyied into messages?)

since the loopback device doesn't appear in the route, i think that it is
the faulty and in fact:
/sbin/route add -net 127.0.0.0 netmask 255.0.0.0
SIOCADDRT: No such device

but:
yoda:~# ifconfig
lo Link encap:Local Loopback
inet addr:127.0.0.1 Bcast:127.255.255.255 Mask:255.0.0.0
UP BROADCAST LOOPBACK RUNNING MTU:3584 Metric:1
RX packets:840 errors:12 dropped:0 overruns:0
TX packets:0 errors:840 dropped:12 overruns:0

further i do not get connected to my DNS, but another host on the same
ethernet branch can, if i try a nslookup i only get:
yoda:~# nslookup erm1
*** Can't find server name for address 130.79.68.247: No response from server
*** Can't find server name for address 130.79.68.152: No response from server
*** Can't find server name for address 130.79.200.1: No response from server
*** Default servers are not available
but:
yoda:~# ssh erm1

14:47:19 erm1:~$ nslookup yoda
Server: api-dns.u-strasbg.fr
Address: 130.79.68.247

Name: yoda.u-strasbg.fr
Address: 130.79.74.66

so what's going wrong here?

ciao
