IP Masquerading timeout question

Hi,
Using Linux pre-2.0.31 (with additionnalfixes) and IP Masquerading,
how can I increase the timeout delay of TCP connections ?
I have users that would like to have inactive telnet connections remain
alive over the lunch hour. Is modifying the values in <net/ip_masq.h>
enough ?
The #define MASQUERADE_EXPIRE_TCP is set to 15*60*HZ which would seem to
be a delay of 15 minutes. But I'm seeing timeouts more like 10 minutes.
I don't have the liberty of testing with the production machine, which is
a 2 hour drive from my office, so before playing with the setting I'd
like to be sure of the effect.

Thanks!
