2.0.31-pre-patch-6 + Werner's latest patch

I applied the patch Werner posted today (originally from someone else
who's name escapes me) to a clean pre-patch-6 system and did a 'make -j
zImage'. It went well for a while but died with 'cpp got fatal signal 7'
while compiling the fs directory tree.

I also had these messages in the log:

Aug 15 13:22:42 ansel xntpd[263]: select(8, ####----, 0L, 0L, &0.000000) error: Interrupted system call
Aug 15 13:32:00 ansel kernel: swap_out: physical ram 16384kB, min pages 128kB
Aug 15 13:32:01 ansel kernel: swap_out: free pages 128kB, async pages 0kB

This was on my 16mb (32mb swap) test system.
