Problem with SMC Ultra ethernet drivers in 2.0.30

I think I may have discovered a bug/flaw in the SMC Ultra ethernet drivers
in kernel 2.0.30 and probably prior versions as well.

If you have your SMC Ultra ethernet card set to a jumpered address, ie;
0x280, i3, memory address 0xD000 through 0xD800, and change it to a
different jumpered address, the kernel is unable to detect the card, even
with autoprobe. I'm not sure if this is because of the SDL N2/csu that is
also in the machine, but it is improbable, as the SDL N2/csu isn't even in
the kernel, currently. This problem is definitely reproducable, as I have
been reproducing it most of the night.

System Configuration:
RedHat 4.2 - Kernel 2.0.30 (Out Of The Box)
SDL N2/csu (0x240, i5)
Unknown Modem (cua1, i3)
Diamond Stealth 3D 2000 Pro (S3 ViRGE/GX)
BusLogic BT-946 SCSI
