transmitter access conflict

We have a 14 linux boxes that are used for development and testing.
They all have the 3Com 3c905 Boomerang 100baseTx running on a 10Mbps
network. They are using 2.0.29 and 2.0.30 kernels. Over the last
three weeks, we have started to get these transmitter access conflict
messages. Once they start doing that, they are useless. These
machines have been running for months without incident, so I am
suspecting that something is happening on the network to cause this.
They only interesting thing we do is send a lot of multicast and
broadcast UDP traffic to test our application. But we always do that.
Any ideas what is going wrong so I can better track it down?
