(1) I suppose that if each process structure saves the performance
counters which are saved and restored on each context switch,
I can eliminate two problems:
(a) No problems with SMP anymore.
(b) I can time multiple processes simultanously with no
overlaps. Two running userspace test programs
would then not interfere.
Is that true? :)
(2) I'm leaning a bit towards the proc-filesystem-approach now.
That's the sysctl stuff, right?
Where in the proc filesystem hierarchy should I place the MSR
interface?
Thanks.
