here's my contribution to the complaints about the sound in 2.1.78 ;-)
Occasionally, mixers programs complain about errors reading /dev/mixer
Some programs can't play sounds anymore, reporting errors like
"Parameters not accepted by /dev/dsp"
When playing sun audio files with "cat file.au > /dev/audio" the sound is
ok., but "cat" won't terminate unless it is explicitly killed
Are these known problems? Did I overlook something?
I load the sound driver with
modprobe gus io=0x220 irq=11 dma=1
/dev/sndstat reports:
