Ok... Tell ya what... start your win-modem up, connect somewhere, start
a heavy download. After you've got that going, do something that's
extremely processor intensive... Mabye compile something HUGE, run a
large povray tracing, etc. and tell me if the damned thing doesn't hang up
on you because there's not enough CPU time for it.

Everyone else reading this that doesn't know:

Win anything are crap. Yes, they're cheaper, but they only work with win
3.1 and 95. Don't waste your $$$, get a good REAL modem/printer/whatever.
You get what you pay for.
