Considering the reports about HP-UX and something else
matching Solaris, I think this is a good argument.

Would people really object to the Solaris numbering hack?
It works for them, and it makes the names shorter.

Compatibility only matters if done 100%. The IDE disks can be
done however Solaris x86 does them. Most likely, IDE could
always be "c0".
