Duplicate kernel logging

I just compiled 2.0.33 (from Red Hat w/module sound support) and I noticed
that all kernel boot messages are duplicated. An example is:

Jan 15 00:01:57 ann syslogd 1.3-3: restart.
Jan 15 00:01:58 ann kernel: klogd 1.3-3, log source = /proc/kmsg started.
Jan 15 00:01:58 ann kernel: klogd 1.3-3, log source = /proc/kmsg started.
Jan 15 00:01:58 ann kernel: Loaded 4200 symbols from /boot/System.map.
Jan 15 00:01:58 ann kernel: Loaded 4200 symbols from /boot/System.map.
Jan 15 00:01:58 ann kernel: Symbols match kernel version 2.0.33.
Jan 15 00:01:58 ann kernel: Symbols match kernel version 2.0.33.
Jan 15 00:01:58 ann kernel: Loaded 19 symbols from 3 modules.

ad. nauseum.

Any thoughts? I haven't seen this mentioned on any of the Linux lists
I'm subscribed to.
