2.0.33: inetd and crond dying silently

HI

On a previously stable SCSI, P100 box we are suddenly experiencing
silent
failures of both inetd and crond about three times a week. The machine
is busy but not overloaded. Another machine (lightly used) has no such
problem so far. I upgraded to the latest inetd (from the NetKit 0.10
package) but this made no difference.

Any ideas?
