1) This has nothing to do with the kernel. comp.protocols.tcp-ip.domains
2) the current crop of registrars are either (NSI) pirates or
(Postel) doing it as a hobby. If Jon Postel gets hit by a
bus, chaos will reign, and NSI has already converted the
majority of the namespace into a leasespace, at $50/year
with no contractual obligation on their part.

4) An Amtrak-like IANA is *exactly* what we hired the government to do.
