Tried it, still have a problem with module versioning, though both the
kernel and the module was compiled from a fresh 2.1.85.
Anyway, I did managed to solve it after quite some time. I had to compile
it into the kernel to avoid the version problem, and then hack
/drivers/net/ne.c to force it to use irq 3, which apparently was
probed(?!).
Once I got through that it works fine, and I must say that 2.1.85 is
pretty stable for me.
