NFS and 2.1.8x: How to make it work? Any FM to R?

I've got an i586 running stock RedHat-5.0 + updates and another one running
2.1.85, I need them to talk NFS to each other.

2.1.85 mounts from 2.0.32 fine (modulo some error messages at startup,
complaining about portmap); 2.0.32 won't mount from 2.1.85 at all. 2.1.85
has both CONFIG_NFS_FS and CONFIG_NFSD defined (not modules).
