Hmmm, may I suggest you use something for answering a caller which
*understands* modems? ATS0=1 is almost always a bad idea. Consider a
dead machine (which is possible since you run 2.1) and an incoming call
-- with ATS0=1, your modem will still answer, though it's completely
useless and will cost the caller money...
[But that's getting off-topic, sorry].
