If you want to use egcs-2.91.xx or gcc-2.8.x with 2.0.3x kernels in ix86
machines, you have to replace the arch/i386/kernel/ioport.c with the 2.1.70+
version of it. There's an optimization in gcc28/egcs that will prevent
IOport access otherwise and thus prevent X from running.
