swapping weirdness in 2.1.90 (pppd and ls compete)

Here's a little swapping buglet I've noticed over the last couple of days:
The first thing I'll do when I boot up my box is start up pppd to connect
to my ISP, and immediately after I'll do an ls of any directory. (I'm in
the habit of _constantly_ typing ls, even when I have no reason too =)

Result? Mad swapping for about five or six seconds.

I'd expect it to thrash a little bit since I'm loading those two from the
disk (since they're not in the disk cache) but 5 to 6 seconds seems a bit
much.

My compliments on the swapping and memory management improvements that
have come about in 2.1!

Just wanted to let you know about the little things that are acting a bit
strange because of those changes =)
