Oh well. And I write:
- First: Intel PR440fx motherboard; one PPro 180; SCSI tape, disk, CD;
- ELSA Permedia2 card.

When I added the 2.1.93 APIC code (arch/i386/kernel/io_apic.c and the
changes needed to compile), 2.1.92 hung. When I commented the SMP line
out of the Makefile, it worked again. I'm now running 2.1.95 without
SMP pieces compiled in.

My BIOS are set to the 1.4 Intel MP spec, but I only have one processor
at the moment. This is a bit over my head right now, but I'm a willing
guinea pig.

Side notes: With a few, non-essential twiddles, the new aic7xxx driver
seems to work. Also, I'm getting a bunch of unresolved symbols in the
cs4232 driver as a module. It seems to want ad1848 routines, and I think
I forgot to configure something else.
