ifconfig -> TX packets 0, errors:18425

Hello,

First of all I'd like to say that I'm quite a newbie with
development kernels... I've just compiled a 2.1.95 kernel,
everything works fine but I get some strange things with
ifconfig...

An ifconfig with the 2.0.33 kernel looks like this:

[root@stefan linux]# ifconfig
lo Link encap:Local Loopback
inet addr:127.0.0.1 Bcast:127.255.255.255 Mask:255.0.0.0
UP BROADCAST LOOPBACK RUNNING MTU:3584 Metric:1
RX packets:175 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0
TX packets:175 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0 coll:0

eth0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:60:97:C6:A2:5A
inet addr:192.168.0.1 Bcast:192.168.0.255 Mask:255.255.255.0
UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1
RX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0
TX packets:49 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0 coll:0
Interrupt:15 Base address:0xd800

ippp0 Link encap:Point-to-Point Protocol
inet addr:131.155.211.52 P-t-P:131.155.12.3 Mask:255.255.0.0
UP BROADCAST POINTOPOINT RUNNING NOARP MTU:1500 Metric:1
RX packets:1227 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0
TX packets:1260 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0 coll:

While with the 2.1.95 it looks like this:

lo Link encap:Local Loopback
inet addr:127.0.0.1 Bcast:127.255.255.255 Mask:255.0.0.0
UP LOOPBACK RUNNING MTU:3584 Metric:1
RX packets:30 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0
TX packets:0 errors:3091 dropped:30 overruns:0 carrier:0
coll:0

eth0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:60:97:C6:A2:5A
inet addr:192.168.0.1 Bcast:192.168.0.255 Mask:255.255.255.0
UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1
RX packets:11 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0
TX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:61 overruns:0 carrier:0 coll:0
Interrupt:15 Base address:0xd800

ippp0 Link encap:Point-to-Point Protocol
inet addr:131.155.211.32 P-t-P:131.155.12.3 Mask:255.255.0.0
UP POINTOPOINT RUNNING NOARP MTU:1500 Metric:1
RX packets:339 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0
TX packets:0 errors:18425 dropped:270 overruns:0 carrier:0
coll:0

See that the TX packets on the lo and ippp0 (isdn) interfaces are 0 and
that the errors keep piling up... The strange thing is that I am
connected to
the internet right now over the ippp0 interface and things seem to be
going
OK...

greetings,

Stefan van der Eijk
