I have not any problems with aic7xxx driver. When IDE freezes with the a.m.
syndrom no SCSI devices are mounted or accessed at all... When doing the
same test with the root fs out of SCSI drive the system does NOT freeze...

And I don't use the aic7xxx driver from the kernel, I'm on 5.0.12 from Doug
Ledford now :))
