3c509b and 2.1.106

I have 2 machines, the one works fine with Alan's a1 patches, the other doesn't
see its 3c509b, I've tried a1 and a2 patches, but no go.
insmod 3c509 complained of one unresolved symbol, I tried that on the failing
machine after compiling it in on both machines.
Only after I run el3-diag, then 3c5x9cfg can find it, but the kernel still
doesn't see it.
I can't see what the difference is between the 2 machines, so on one I run
2.1.103 and on the other 2.1.106.
Puzzled.
