I've just tried (to no avail) using the above combination.
Pppd exits with a complaint that the kernel doesn't have
PPP (which it does, because it worked with libc5)...
I traced the problem back to glibc (hop over to the other
thread to see more trouble :) and now I'm asking what
glibc version I need for ppp to function with the newer
kernels.
