I've been testing the v2.1.110 kernel with mem=xM settings. I've found
that using mem=2M, mem=3M causes the kernel to panic with a message about
VFS being unable to mount root filesystem. Setting to 4M works just fine
(I don't even notice the difference between 16M (normal on this P75+), and
4MB :o) Settings with 2.5M, 3.5M do not work since lilo doesn't recognise
these. :o( I didn't even DARE to try mem=1M, but I suppose someone else
will get that to work!
How about we have a competition to find the guy who's managed to boot with
the LEAST amount of memory and run a bash shell and do a cat of
/proc/meminfo? :)
