2.1.111 compilation breaks on me..

i've got the following problem with the 2.1.111 compilation..
i'm using egcs 1.0.3 as my main compiler and it seems that whenever it
comes across this sort of declaration
--snipet
#if LINUX_VERSION_CODE <= KERNEL_VER(1,2,13)
--endsnipet

it stops with a similar error output to this :
/usr/src/linux/include/linux/ftape.h:43: parse error

any ideas on this?
