some days ago I asked for help with my WinTV pci card (that one that
is also sold under the label WinCast, with stereo sound, but without
radio). I got the hint to try the newest bttv-current (which should
be 0.5.13 now ? got it from its home page yesterday) and the most
recent xawtv (which happens to be 2.19).
What can I say ? It works !
I'm using kernel 2.0.33, so I had to do some patching to bttv.c:
- uncomment #include <linux/vmalloc.h>
- uncomment a large hunk of PCI card definitions (which aren't
included in 2.0.33 pci.h)
- it's absolutely necessary to leave USE_PLL defined (bttv.c should
have an #ifndef USE_PLL #define USE_PLL 0 #endif construct)
After those patches, it compiles fine.
I had to set vidmem=0xa80 (that's an ATI 3d RageIIC card) to register
the driver correctly.
The xawtv package needed more brain work - the v4l-conf binary as is
doesn't work (library issues ??? exec'ing it returns with "not found")
I had to re-compile it to get it working.
xawtv works, seems to detect the correct audio mode (the was no
bilingual station to test with :-( ) - but:
- in window mode, I can only see about 80-90% of the picture.
the right and bottom areas are cut.
- I didn't try it in full-screen mode yet.
- pressing <ENTER> in the station id field of the channel editor
introduces a VT character which is difficult to get rid of.
No, there are no patches yet. I'll have a closer look at it when
time permits it.
Thanks for your help until now.
Steffen
P.S. What happened to the nagra extension to xawtv ?
