Well, pax is an archive tool that can output in multiple formats. It write
an extended tar format by default, I think. You can look at the contents
of archives (including *.tar archives) by doing 'pax < archive'.

So perhaps it is just a tar file. Have you tried 'tar -tf
linux-2.0.32.pax' ? If that doesn't work, then perhaps you'll need to get
the 'pax' tool. Debian has 'pax'... thats where I got mine from.
